The ZBA

Every Friday a group of English people play hoops. This is where we play!

ZBA Awards Night

One of my favorite things about AZ has been basketball. I LOVE working with the Wildcats. Nothing like walking into a gym and having 15 girls shout your name and come running to say hello. It is a lot of time, takes a lot of patience (which I'm learning to develop), and tests my coaching abilities constantly. But, it is so rewarding to watch these girls develop as basketball players and people.

But, that's not the only basketball on my schedule. The English department has a basketball league--well, league is generous. A group of grad students, faculty, and friends play pick-up twice a week. It is a great league because all levels of players are invited, but the regulars are pretty basketball savvy and the games competitive. Also, regulars all have nicknames. Mine is The Long Arm of the Law--kind of has a nice ring to it, right?

So, as casual as the games are, we do take it very seriously! So seriously, we had an award night. 10 awards were voted on through an anonymous internet ballot. Everything from Best Hustle to Best Person to Best Use of a Headband. I won two awards: Rookie of the Year and The Alchemist (the person who increases team chemistry the most).

You're never too old for trophies, right?!
